Gemstone certification from our in-house gemological lab

Trust is everything when you buy a gemstone. Safir operates its own gemological laboratory, so every stone we sell is independently identified, graded and documented: its species, natural or treated status, and where possible its geographic origin. We also certify stones you already own.

What our certification covers

1

Identity & species

Confirms the exact gemstone species beyond any doubt: ruby, sapphire, emerald, spinel.

2

Natural vs. treated

Full disclosure of any enhancement: heat, fracture filling, diffusion, or irradiation.

3

Colour, clarity, cut & carat

The 4Cs assessed and documented for coloured stones, calibrated to international standards.

4

Origin assessment

Geographic origin determination where the stone characteristics allow: Burmese, Ceylon, Colombian and more.

Certify your own gemstone

If you own a gemstone, whether inherited, purchased elsewhere, or previously uncertified, bring it to our Publika gallery. Our lab will assess and certify it: identity, natural status, treatment disclosure, and origin where determinable.

A certificate gives you documentation for insurance, a paper trail for resale, and the certainty of knowing precisely what you own. For a stone of any significance, it is not optional.

Why certification cannot be optional

You cannot reliably distinguish a natural gemstone from a synthetic, or an untreated stone from a treated one, by sight alone. Even experienced gemologists require laboratory equipment to be certain.

A gemological certificate is the only objective, third-party evidence of what you own. It protects you when buying, gives you documentation for insurance, and is essential for any future resale.
